Visitations by Mark Bokowiec

Mark Bokowiec is one of those people who has quite an underrated place in the history of electronic music. Founding member of Counterdance in 1978 back in Bradford, working on different electronic devices at University of Leeds, designed and conducted work in one of the first UK established electronic music studio in Huddersfield back in 1979, sound manager for Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival for 25 years. Mark is the studio manager University of Huddersfield but now managing a large suite of digital music studios including the SPIRAL – A 25.4 multichannel research studio.
His new album brings a blend of an electronic influnces which are quite clear to recognise such as more experimental Tangerine Dream, Cabaret Voltaire, krautrock bands such as Can, Amon Duul and Faust. It is a distant echo of those but Mark's music is multi-dimensional ambience of moods and nuances, subtility and fragile dissonance between a guided meditative collages of improvised palette and highly thought-through compositions. Austere and dark but not to the point of some sinister dark ambient aspect.
