Ashley, Sam & Werner Durand - I'd Rather Be Lucky Than Good

and what a great piece is that....?
Sam Ashley and Werner Durand's musical friendship started a while ago in 1984, in Berlin while Sam was touring with Atalanta performing as a vocalist doing Robert Ashley's opera company.
Years later they come up with a minimalism driven spoken word album where the story telling blends nicely with something sophisticated.
Haunting Werner's background that brings the spirit of Eastern roots of minimal music is taken to another level by Sam's voice where everything seems to fall into the right place.
The free flow that this music posseses doesn't exclude her from being highly structured and complexed - it poses interesting questions as in how music that seems elusive and obscure brings something more into the known world of scales and the recipes for the usual?
A very distinctive example of beauty.
