Marja Ahti - Vegetal Natives

Inspired by the French writer's Rene Daumal "On patophotograms" new album by Marja Ahti - "Vegetal Natives" brings the galore of the savage, unbound imagination, games and mimicry, unusual tones to the timbre of only seemingly improvised compositions.
Swedish native living now in Turku, Finnland composes her world out of field recorded tissues and glances, ARP and Buchla synth textures, gongs and electronic feedback.
The whole album is soaked in water element. There is a hint of it in the field recordings that are used here as well as the mystery of watery sounds, flangered by different ambience of spaces, feels like everything is dripping with foam and dew.
Marja possesses all the qualities of the modern composer but with a drop of very private metaphysical aspect, feeling the depth of her experience and dwelling on it.
It's a beautiful work encased in 4 compositions. Worth listening for the detail and the juxtaposition of highly refined sounds with something elusive, more fragile than we normally think of the familiar ambience sounds.
Beautifully mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi
