Helena Espvall, Ernesto Diaz-Infante ‎– A Hallowed Shell Of Ash And Rust

Ernesto and Helena always reminded me of the part of US improvised music scene that has a very specific edge and style: being open to different styles, has an interesting sociological background and its own genuine voice.
Lady Espvall of Swedish descent , a talented multi instrumentalist with cello and acoustic guitar focus, brings the natural psychodelic flair derived from her rich experience in such projects as Espers, eastern styley Sumer, Projektor 7,  silent movie orchestra Komeda named after legendary Polish jazz musician, Valerie Project, Anahita, as well as other constellations with likes of Alan Zondhein, Azure Carter, Agnes Szelag, Marielle Jakobson, Marcia Basset, Masaki Batoh, Sharon Kraus and Meg Baird, not to mention being the touring musician of Vashti Bunyan, Damon and Naomi, Ghost and Marissa Nadler which just proves how wonderfully versatile Helena is.
Ernesto on the other hand is a long time veteran of SF scene keeping the great acoustic style of guitar reaching back to singer songwriter tradition with ambience of a calleidoscope of different influences and styles.
So, we have a nice piece of cake here - well composed and arranged on the verge of improvised music and modern experimental composition. A dreamscape of acoustic bliss and amplified trip - a gem to contemplate and come back to it - over and over again.
