Melancholia . Dekonstrukcje by Schröttersburg

What an interesting album - the remix albums usually pose many potential problems such as choosing the right collaborators who would pick up the spirit of the original and adding up their own val e in a form of a remix.

Schröttersburg is a new wave band from Płock (the name of the band is a German word used for Płock during Nazi occupation in WW2) - a power trio of guitar, bass, drums and vocal.

Zoharum has just released the band's remix album with variety of guests who have found their own way towards the original material.

The moment you start listening - you definitely feel the seriousness that all the contributors approached the source material.

Piotr Dąbrowski's track is somewhat haunting ambience - a dramatic implosion of some serene mood that turns out to be more and disturbing as it unfolds - with glitchy effects it adds a bit of grit to it.

Vilkudja has taken bass and drums into a paraphrase conondrum that keeps the original lead and turns it into some sort of anthem.

Tzii went a bit further - his remix has a bit pompous feel to it and moves more and more towards dark ambient but of more demure feeling.

Ame de Boue is electro/techno turned into a hyper banger with distorted background.

Gaap Kvlt stands out with intricacy and highly sophisticated doom - a melancholy crushed with depressive and even opressive climax.

Mirt takes us on a strange voyage and hi-end post techno ambience with pulsating beats and evocative theme.

Fleuve is an interesting take surgically deconstructing the original lead into a mesmerising dynamics.

1997EV is also taking quite a surgical take on the original but puts it into an almost musical box petite theme.
