Sonya Holowell and Ben Carey are the founding members of this Australian duo of improvised vocal an electronic music and they come now to the surface with their bandcamp release.
They have beeen experimenting together for a while and the album is a testimony to their live performance work.
Both accomplished artists in their own fields present a mesmerizing blend of modular synthesis (Ben) and vocal maestry (Sonya).
Chaotic it may seem but in fact very much sure hand movements of electronic textures and dramatic vocals can be seen as a derivative of sonorous experiments and open form of free improvisation.
But there is much more to this - the nuanced interplay between both of the musicians and dramatism of the parts that is both heartwrenching and cathartic.
Microtonal work of Ben who navigates the magma of his synth might feel a bit disparate frenzy of Sonya's vocal but it is surely refreshing and involving.
