BROECKAERT//BERWECK//LORENZ Bernard Parmegiani: Stries for three synthesizers and tape CD Mode Records Mode328

The body of work by Bernard Parmegiani is immense and a new renditions and mutations of it always seems like a good idea.

Mode records releases an album "Stries" by a trio of Broeckaert, Berweck and Lorenz bringing the whole extravaganza and the climax of Bernard's work transmuting it into and electroacoustic feast for ears.

Three parts based on the tapes of his work Violostries for violin & tape from 1963. The tape part is derived completely from recordings of the violin which Parmegiani masterfully alters to create an at times extremely dense, at other times pointillist piece of music.

The second movement is more Roland and EMS synths are used to create an ambience through work with left/right channels accompanied by Yamaha CS-40M which brings more melodic input.

The third part is a completely different segment all three synths play by themselves accompanied by tape. Glissandos going to quite high pitches with dense textures which lead to some dramatic dissipation of tape.

Definitely a great album that gives you an insight how tape techniques can be related to more accurate, digital aspects of composition and production process.
