KURWS – Powięź / Fascia
And what a beautiful debacle!
Kurws is probably the most nonchalant and unpretentious band from Poland I know. There is a special sort of energy about this trio that is plodding along his own path, and taking it easy when it comes to themselves as well as the musical settlement, to use a more appropriate term instead of "genre".
How can you position an improvising trio with clearly set musical knowledge, nerve and sense of it - especially when you feel that there is an intuitive way towards how they act and interact between each other.
Distant echo of improvised music, filtered through no-wave, open form of eclectic influences where you probably could refer it to Zappa, Massacre, Material or some grindcore ensembles but to do it would be an understatement of the richness that we are dealing with here.
I somehow feel, that these guys love challenging themselves. The form they are navigating through would probably be an instant prompt to outlet the electronic aspect to it but there is no such a thing here. Production is raw and uncompromising, there is no fluff and faff around it. Pure energy of interaction between the musicians and no unnecessary overlay.
Dawid Bargenda – drums
Hubert Kostkiewicz – guitar, waterphone, bells
Jakub Majchrzak – bass
