Kosmogonia by SCHROTTERSBURG

Kosmogonia is a new album by Płock’s Schrottersburg. An excellent piece, an advancing notion of blending different elements that were stop stations on previous albums, here brought to an involving crescendo…for now.
Schrottersburg started off as a project which had a pretty intense influences of new wave, early 80s, guitar existentialism - classy and formulated from A to Z, immediately recognisable.
As they moved on, they experimented more with different elements such as kraut sound, dub elements in production, and music philosophy as well as post-industrial experimentation which is but a part of rich and wide knowledge and experience of all musicians. Erudite and technical approach is present here in any way possible.
I didn’t have any expectations when Michał offered me the material to listen - l had some assumptions but they were positively shattered from an early start.
New album is definitely harsher, more aggressive and dramatic , atonal and noisy. It is rather useless to throw some comparisons since the embellishment and gracefulness of combination between aesthetic awareness and virtuosity that those lads present is just impossible.
For a moment l thought it weighs a similar, frenetic poetry quality that Andrzej Żuławski’s movies had along with Korzyński’s soundtracks. But it’s only a personal hint as they have their own quality which is impossible to falsify.
At the same time their new territory is full of directness and a model type of frustration expressed through music. I can only imagine how live gigs beautifully amplify those elements.
It is a surprise album - you may ask how. The answer is pretty simple: Schrottersburg doesn’t live by a template, a cliche, it is fully conscious step towards finding your own voice between the known elements.
Take a step towards getting familiar with this album. It is beautifully released in three formats ( as it should be ) by Zoharum.
