Wanderlust by Mirt
Mirt has been tirelelessly releasing his stuff every year. Both On his field recording label Saamleng and here, solo on vinyl.
His newest album is not much of a surprise, considering the fact that both field recordings and his more electronic work has always been going hand in hand.
Wanderlust seems like a beautiful reference to his trips and what he receives from travelling in terms of reflections, recollections and observations. As usual, the music is quite intimate, its sombre timbre and mellow mood can sway the listener as there is always a small element of surprise and something truly dark in all this. It always makes me think of anthropocene and how we are all affected by it.
Travelling through the pockets of nearly un-swallowed and unmarred by the modern civilization areas, we get the chance to listen to the audio sphere that is switched off in the daily lives of an average urban dweller.
Tomek blissfully and masterfully put together electronics in a slightly glitchy manner and anything that is somewhat improvised - a clear sign of psychedelia riddim of krautrock and much modern edge of post-rock electronica.
It's not an easy ambient field recording-packed listening. There is almost touchable, dense and humid atmosphere of somewhere distant and yet something very close.
Definitely one of the albums to be listened to at least a few times.
