Some albums require some time to immerse yourself into them. "What kind of flower are you? by Połoz is one of them.

Piotr Połoz has a pretty large portfolio both as a solo artist and someone who has been part of other projects as for instance Psychocukier (Psychosugar) - a band that blends avant pop, a bit psychodelic noise rock with many other elements.

Reaching a certain age as a man and as an artist makes you feel like you want to at least endeavor some sort of statement about you experience and life in general.

The grim rhythmical darkness of post-techno and pompous glitchy textures that fill in this work make me think of Piotr as a reinvented crooner of the mid-life musings. Not necessarily a "crisis" as a phraseologic platitude that has nothing to do with the dry-witty sense of humor present here.

There is a great deal of unusual melancholy here, as well as specific type of reaching out towards a deeply caved-in innocence ( look at the title - what does it make you think of), and even a nostalgia. But saying all this - the album sounds exceedingly fresh and fore mostly doesn't fail to inspire and surprise. Its blend of IDM, glitch, ambient, nostalgic crooning and many other bits both scare and make you laugh with choking as an aftertaste of existential thoughts.

The seriousness and pomposity of the album are broken by march-like 4/4 rhythms and at times they are pretty overwhelming which for a listener, after all is a good experience - it makes you think of emotions rather than templates, a common thing in the world of pop music.
