Spéis by Dressing

Another of the newest batch from Molt Fluid, a label based in Edinburgh, Scotland run by Michał Fundowicz.
Dressing presents 6 tracks each numbered and entitled as Spéis which is set in the sonic landscape that has many points to it. On one hand it's a prepared tape assemblage which sounds both like Fluxus induced music but sounds much more modern and has this quality of plunderphonics vs musique concrete to it that for example Joe Colley's aka Crawl Unit music has. Some sort of unique beauty achieved by seemingly easy to create collages. But there's twist to it as Dressing uses processed field recordings and even some sort of harmony and tonality is introduced by using an accordion (?) or some harmonium which adds a completely different angle to it.
There's a bit of treatise when you have a feeling - it's the sound of the objects with added tape hisses and squelches - the track 6 that starts unassumingly goes into that direction. But then the narrative develops itself into something you wouldn't expect to happen.
Take old school tape preparations, add a bit more freedom in construction of the sound collages and that's nearly the whole picture of this record....nearly...
