Moon in the Shape of a Hooch by Broken Crow & Eloine

Double bill of Broken Crow and Eloine beautifully released as cd and DL by Getrude Tapes based in

Omaha, Nebraska.

A long over 30 minutes long composition that has a weight of a sea wall and nuanced structure of

the beehive.

Interesting set of instruments and how the musicians actually create specific moods and transfix the

emotional sphere towards putting them into musical notes or textures makes me think both classics

of minimal music such as La Monte Young, Tony Conrad and the likes.

But this album is so much more and has somewhat elusive and mysterious emotional aspect to it. It

creates sophisticated equilibrium of sounds. Maybe because it keeps the great balance between

electronics, tapes, built instruments and the instruments such as viola, violin, bagpipes ( a rare

instrument in the world of experimental improvised music).

An excellent album – all about balance and resonance.
