ESkalation! by Xyramat
An interesting little new album from Xyramat (Hamburg, Germany) that will definitely keep you on the edge and hopefully make you feel more curious about his work.
An interesting mix of illustrative dramatic ambient vibes on the outside but something more eerier on the inside and definitely some outstanding compositional techniques that make you think of Ben Frost, Tim Hecker or even Oneohtrix Point Never.
It's a definitely an elusive set of tracks that you might define as ambient but it's way to unsettling and different than your normal ambient. There's lost of processing of sounds that make you think more of Pierre Henry and musique concrete, I even felt the dramatism of the tracks is just astounding. Done in a way that makes them really memorable with a swift sense of how to maneuver the atmosphere and murky waters of creating certain climate of music and place.
Definitely something I would like to come back to.
