Frett - The world As A Hologram
Maciek Frett known from Job Karma and Sieben's mutual project with Job Karma -7JK is releasing his solo album with 8 brand new tracks.
With the artistic profile of his projects you might have certain assumptions and specific expectations but let's leave those aside. Maciek is a pro in every sense of this word and you can instantly hear it and feel it in his album and the promotional video which instantly made me think of Żuławski's "On Silver Globe".
"Dreams" unveils a post-industrial electro vibe with muffled vocals and interesting, strong beat. "Two cups" starts with electronic ambience in the background and theatrical vocal introduction slowly transforming into danceable agressive dark electro. "Trust" on the other side is a different story - it has this unique experimental 80's feel to it with muffled vocal. It somewhat doesn't fit the previous tracks' shape but works excellently before the next track "Flag" which blasts you with its terrific energy and dramatism. "The Light" has a spectacular ambience about it with almost touchable sense of mystery.
Nothing compared with noisy "Isolation". "Judge" is another excellent one with subtle ambience but with underpinning horror of the vocals and the unnerving electronics at the same time.
"Holy" is a great koda to all of those - isolationism at its best and in this set - the least obvious and most abstract.
Great thing about his album - you can use it as a film soundtrack, a background music, a type o'electronica in a sense of prime example how modern electronica with post-industrial vibe can sound fresh, excellently arranged and have no weak points.
