Radio tree by Owls Are Not
And what an amalgam do we have here?
100hz strikes again with an ep release from Owls are not.
After a good long time spent on research in Tanzania and Malawi by the bandleader we have a material composed together with Tonga Boys memeber - Peter Kaunda, a Japanese drummer Masaya Hijiikata who studied African drumming, Martin Kaphux Kaphukusi, a conductor of the small choir Christ Church of Malawi as well as Michał Pawłowski who works with newspaperflyhunting and Vendrae Vendarum.
The effect is a beautiful eecclectism of syncopated rhythms and beats, interesting moods and swings of the background instruments compiled with just astounding simplicity and top notch arrangements of the vocal parts. Ethno electronic with experimentative stride to it, african minimalism and improvised squirm of the actual freedom from clichees and stubborness of egocentrical push towards achieving certain points of approval. A stunning work of a collective mind and the thirst to pushing boundaries without thinking of what might come next. The architecture of joy.
