The Voice of Steelworks by Dawid Chrapla

Dawid Chrapla is a special person to me, not only because he is a good friend but also because I look up at him when it comes to the technical aspects of making music in the widely - (mis)understood genre of experimental music. He has been a maverick for at least 20 years I reckon - uncompromising and developing his own vision of post-industrial music.
His formula has been always a very firm one - a bit conservative for my taste but never compromising, never untrue to himself. He still keeps this spirit of musical discovery that kept everything fresh in the 1990's - it's undeniable.
I was chuffed to say the least to hear that he is having a cd coming up with Mirt's Saamleng label which I revere very much and which is an excellent hub for field recording.
"The Voice of Steelworks" is somewhat an essence, a source of what Dawid's work stems from.
An idea to record an industrial plant's sounds seems like a perfect epitome of what a "post-industrial" artist should be doing.
It stands out in Saamleng's catalogue excellently - it has not only has its own character but also grows beyond the narrative of a document which is quite always the case with any field recorded albums.
Seven tracks which are entitled by the actual names of where the sounds come from. It is a mature expression of someone who knows not  only the technical aspects of field-recording but has a deeper understanding how certain tracks need to be built so the would involve the listener enough.
There is no bad point on this album. It enriched the idea behind Saamleng greatly adding up a slightly different value to the list. And it shows how precise Dawid was with his sound search. Excellent work!
