Hiræth by Mirt
It's difficult not to detach or relate or associate Tomek's activity in his other projects and his solo one which he always puts under moniker of Mirt. Obviously through the fact of his stunning production and unobvious use of the modular synths as well as carefully recorded field ambience. Hence it's advisable to just detach yourself from all this even though it's not just an empty form.
Hiræth comes out on a beautifully bottle green vinyl with his own painting as a cover.
The twiddlings, pettiness, and storytelling of his new album is actually a comment to what is happening out there on the political and cultural front of events that surround us and as a matter of fact can have a suffocating effect. So does the music.
The way Tomek puts together all different bits to create the atmosphere of desolation is somewhat of a mastery, but done with a finesse and effortlessly. A sensitivity of lab research and post-techno but without obvious beats adds up to it. This could easily be a release of Chain Reaction or Skam Records but it has more subtlety to it and a sense of melancholy those artists don't have and won't have.
Here is an essence of a conscious, non-nonsense artist who knows how to navigate through shallows and doesn't overburden the listener with his vision, being at the same time a very distinct in what he produces. Cheers to that!
