Mikołaj Trzaska & Daktyle: Transient Riot by Antenna Non Grata
Antenna Non Grata is a label based in Poland which has been active now for some time and has set the bar of quality, inter-dimensionality of musical modals variety and simply interesting sounds to a very high level. They not only make the listener understand that there are lots of areas and terrains out there to discover but also there are stylistics and aesthetic values that are connected and intertwined.
It's not different in this context here where Mikolaj Trzaska, a musician with probably 40 years of experience in different musical contexts joins forces with Daktyle: Marek Sadowski and Maciej Jaciuk in an uncanny marriage of improvised music of Trzaska's saxophones and a dense landscapes of Sadowski's and Jaciuk's electronics, drums, daxophone and other means.
It's an intense journey. In a positive way, in an exploratory way, in a way that I wish many improvised ensembles would do greatly if they wished.
Saxophones are leading along with drums. The unnerving themes that stem from many paths of jazz, improvisation, klezmer music, ethnicadelia and everything that is both psychoactive and floats on a magic carpet of Mikolaj's imagination blends perfectly with unusual and deep landscapes of Marek's and Maciej's.
It's an experience that can teach you a lot - on how musicians that come seemingly from different backgrounds can work together and not only not clash, but create a great template for mutual communication and understanding. It can teach you also about sharing the experiences together. The strength of this album is the perseverance and focus to detail. It's extraordinary.
Definitely an album to come back to.
