Mazen Kerbaj is an artist that not only trascends certain "rules" about making a "career" in the art world but also brings the audience closer to the down-to-earth approach of using the life flow to create both visual ( he is an established graphic and graphic novel/comic artist) and musical landscapes, anecdotes, stories.
His two albums released beautifully on vinyls come across as a chronique of pulsating life substance. Having its own substance and density and clarity about it through a master craft of a prepared trumpet he goes way beyond free improv clichee and moves closer and closer to something elusive and effortlesly natural.
His way with the instrument, where he uses littleor sometimes even less to creaty visionary and ingenuinely crafted portraits of sensory memories are bold and bigger than life. Yet, in a minute scale of fidelity, you almost feel touching the sound, embracing it as it is.
