Jérôme Noetinger and Anthony Pateras – A Sunset For Walter LP

Jérôme Noetinger and Anthony Pateras have been collaborating in one way or another over some time. Their vinyl record has been released by the excellent Penultimate Press two years ago. In 2018, Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart was a great opportunity for both of them to use a Steinway grandpiano and numerous Revox tape machines. This residency and a long three hour concert is a basis of the four tracks who are the excerpts included here.

The magic of the tape manipulations - dense and impenetrable in a perfect blend with a abstract romanticism of the the piano is a soundtrack of magic and wonder. Full of little elements that together put together a show of demure and chaotic quality with a discipline that only experienced musicians can handle.

The album is a free form and loose tribute for Walter Marchetti. But as in an open area form - it's a travesty of sorts. A look through scanner darkly, an ambience of colliding particles and drama held in a jar, you can open for yourself risking a lot.

An intuitive language of conversation between Noetinger and Pateras - subtle and subconscious - a poetry piece of a rare beauty.
