Ksawery Wójciński: Tower of Pressure - Antenna Non Grata

 

An interesting material which is quite difficult to classify - On one hand it conveys some of the most interesting modern chamber music themes I heard in a while. Highly melodic and melancholic in many ways. On the other hand, we deal with sonorous improvisation where voice and trumpet - apart from the main double bass work of the leader. Frenetic, sometimes quite wild but never losing the sharpness and being keen at all times.

Somehow through the overtones that Ksawery is producing from his instruments I feel some distant echo of ethnic romanticism but I might be deluded by that since the technical abilities of Wójciński are at the highest level.

Definitely worth revisiting.
