SIMON GRAB & FRANCESCO GIUDICI [No] Surrender LP -OUS OUS037
«Social injustices are implanted into our society, and the powerful
are not willing to make way for real change. Urgency is the force
driving us both in musical improvisation and life. Our sounds are
war sirens against an ongoing disaster.» -
Simon Grab & Francesco Giudici
A subtle study of pulsating drones, sombre themes, feedbacks, squelches and everything that goes well with noise ambient drone stylistics but done in a very precise and diligent way that you almost don't see how it is unfolding.
An album with a socio-political message that is the core of how the mood of this album sinks into the listener.
Simon Grab is the main operator here, taking care of the main fundaments of the tracks using non-input technique and other lo-fi electronics.
Experimental musician and sociologist Francesco Giudici plays guitar here, giving the obscure fundamentals a more introspective and reflective feel. And also adding to the whole spirit of the album. His research as sociologist and demographer focuses on social and economic inequalities, social gradient in health, gender inequalities, occupational and familiar life trajectories.
