Krzysztof Gawlas & Dariusz Mazurowski: Binary Horizons by Antenna Non Grata

 

Another beautiful release from ever expanding and ever evolving Polish Antenna Non Grata label.

Filled with abstract and whimsical improvisations on synths and effects the album from Krzysztof Gawlas and Dariusz Mazurowski proves many positive points.

First of all - Duos like this really help to introduce and prolong a lasting musical dialogue which is beyond genres. Second of all - because it is a duo - it helps to see how things unfold in terms of reactivity to one another in this ensemble - the music doesn't lose anything and doesn't get muddled up when it comes to structure. Thirdly - although modular synths are very fashionable these days - it doesn't mean you can easily record something original. Far from it. This album is a great example of musical experience and great background that helps to see the potential of the instrument and how it works in a certain musical context which is experimental improvisation.
