COSMOS by Artur Rumiński

Another great release by unclassifiable, invaluable Antenna Non Grata label.

This time, an experienced guitar player who might be known from various bands revolving around underground metal - Artur Ruminski. He has released some albums with Antenna already - but this one is a bit of a breakthrough.

An illustrative in form and maybe function - ''Cosmos'' digs deep in ambient and even krautrock related idioms but at the same time it could be set in the landscape of improvised and experimental music.

Eight tracks - titled in the same way with just different consecutive numbers slowly developing through minimalistic as well as quite abrasive and a bit glitchy textures bear the semblance of some sort of cathartic ritual.

The tone of this release resonates with a certain melancholy and maybe an introspective trip to the past that is elevated beyond recognition in a modern electronic form. It has a solid base of minimal ambient but thanks to Artur's musical personality - it never gets too obvious, boring or too repetitive - there is a plethora of interesting nuances that stay with you for a long time. A good outlet for a composer to try something a bit different, too.

I wonder what will the next chapter of this introvertive odyssey be...
