kemot kaisim : new sound from bitter field by Antenna Non Grata
Field recording can be a pretty risky area, in terms of its musicality. Some artists though have managed to use field recordings as a base for their sonic explorations in a way that helps to find the grain, the essence of it and by emphasis and compositional techniques work through towards finding their own voice in all the aspects of it.
"New sound from bitter field" by kemot kaisim is a great example of that.
Starting of with a repetitive motive of some vibrating location feels almost like an impossible krautrock theme. Slowly moving on towards the forest sounds which has an eerie feeling to it - as if an easily identified template some something more to it.
And then again, after a short interlude of field recordings, there goes again a repetitive modal that has almost a psychoactive power.
Great short album that gets the essence out of something recorded out there. Uneasy listening and even more, to its advantage, uneasy classification.
As always, curated by Antenna Non Grata, great choice anytime.
