DOSKOCZ / KUREK: wrrr by Antenna Non Grata

Antenna Non Grata is an exemplary  label for releasing quite a diverse array set of artists and projects. This one is no exception.
Paweł and Wojtek have been quite overactive musicians working in different fields and areas of improvised music. They both create worlds within the form and function of their instruments, respectively: Paweł - guitar and Wojtek - percussion.
This album is a momentary lapse of condensed and contained play with sounds. Each track is quite short and concise in terms of length and how much is inside of it. Dynamic noise making on one hand and very acute way of putting things together in a compositional sense of things.
How much of it stems from the experience of musicians is very difficult to assess but there is definitely a solid character and the profile that the album sets.
There is also a very punk spirit beyond those sounds, a noisy attack that makes you balance between the detail and the composition as a closed wholeness.
Keep an eye on those two guys!

Paweł Doskocz - guitar, often prepared. Using preparation, he searches for new sound possibilities of the instrument. He focuses on playing improvised music and draws inspiration from many sources. He was a co-founder of Bachorze, Strętwa and Sumpf. So far, he has had the opportunity to play with many musicians from home and abroad and to play at festivals dedicated to experimental or improvised music. He has played at: Ad Libitum, New Age of Avant-garde Festival, Art of Improvisation Creative Festival, Jazz Ring, Musica Privata, Katowice JazzArt Festival, FRIV Festival, Avant Art Festival and Spontaneous Music Festival. He has collaborated with, among others: Emilio Gordoa, Matthias Müller, Jasper Stadhouders, Paweł Szpura, Hubert Zemler, Wojtek Kurek, Vasco Trilla, Yedo Gibson, Onno Govaert, Seppe Gebruers, Andrew Lisle, Vasco Furtado, Colin Webster, Dirk Serries, Benedict Taylor, Alan Wilkinson, Diego Caicedo and El Pricto. Co-organiser of the ‘Spontaneous Music Festival’ in Poznań.

Wojtek Kurek - percussionist, improviser, lover of electroacoustic music and preparation. Cows, beetles, cats, plants. Sometimes feels like a cow, sometimes thinks like a cat, independently able to distinguish characters in field mice. Fascination with insects. In music, he is interested in trampolining to others. He will play a small percussion set prepared by patch in the max/msp environment, which was prepared for a seminar and concert at the Kraków Academy of Music (2023). Patch is inspired by tape. Digital tape loops transform the drum sound by speeding it up or slowing it down (ultimate retro style), it then travels through a series of filters (e.g. formants) and successive levels of loops and buffers. He has released more than 30 albums, which have appeared in Poland, the USA, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal and Scotland. He is the unofficial world record holder in the category ,,solo tour of a Polish resident‘’ - 23 concerts in 25 days (2020).
