due scritti imperfetti by Giancarlo Toniutti, Deison, Massimo Toniutti
Released in November 2024 - ''due scritti imperfetti'' is a result of a long standing relationship between three musicians: Giancarlo Toniutti, Deison and Massimo Toniutti. In a two year time period, in a recording studio in Udine, northwest part of Italy they have been working, recording and editing.
This cd contains three tracks that span those two years of work and improvisation into a beautiful chunk of electroacoustic ambience.
How to approach this material that in many ways is somewhat mysterious and not easy to classify?
There is definitely a strong element of improvisation and using different techniques to create very dense and unpredictable textures.
As a whole the material is definitely a well composed piece that holds up together, thanks to how the three musicians have been working together to create it.
If you think about some labels that you could put it under - think of AMM, Cornelius Cardew or Morton Feldman to name just a few with a slight post-industrial edge to it. The compositions have a lot of abrasive, rough edges which only works for the good quality they present.
The first thing you notice is how Giancarlo, Deison and Massimo work very close to each other - leading up their ways towards a very tight and well thought through compositions. It's very intuitive, not over-intellectualised and possessing a magical force of imagination and compositional skill.
Hopefully they will release a bit more from their sessions.
