The Street Of The Holy Spirit pt.1 by Various Artists from De Blauwe Aanslag

De Blauwe Aanslag is a new project label that has already released two volumes of Various Artist compilation. They are also very fashionably released on cassettes which adds a bit of a nice flavour to it.
The cassette release and both the contents have this excellent feel of 90's DIY spirit that somewhat feels like it has faded away a bit but here - thanks to the low key profile and the music output - it feels refreshing.
15 artists here :

1.
Thomim - Fungus Gaze
a very grim and dark interpretation of ritualistic ambient with some aspects of modern classical
2.
The Undertaker's Tapes - Facing Your Spite
Spoken word with bits of noise drone music, it will definitely make you happy if you like glitched over noise with some nihilistic feel to it.
3.
Zombieflesheater - Fortress of Fear
evocative and very industrial ambient - especially in terms of beat and rhythm, feels quite like the paraphrase of the 80's horror soundtracks.
4.
Fatigue Suspecte - Den Bleiz
Toned down eerie ambient sounds that could well be a soundtrack for a movie with some startling atmosphere, and especially when an industrial beats emerges.
5.
HUREN - Lauschangriff
cold, toned down beats with a bit of glitchy background, slowly evolving.
6.
gg.od1 - Meth Depression
Probably my favourite - I can immediately recognise connection with Techno Animal, Bug and JK Flesh. Excellent glitchy trip hop and rotten dub.
7.
Chaosy - Apocalepsisya
By the fact that the beat that was created for this track I would put it and classify it under the label of minimalistic experimental pot-techno music but the density of the synths here is pretty overwhelming and has a different structure than for example Mouse on Mars, Microstoria, FX Randomitz or the likes.
8.
Hatzatz - Slug
Excellent sludge with live percussion and downfall of a an atmosphere.
9.
expediitn - Karoshi
Probably the most glitchy on this compilation. Quite literally - every single note is burning with corrupted data like a flux of green lava.
10.
Vtoma - Untitled
well, that was very short but neat
11.
Ascion - Sw4n
new beat and heavy industrial plashes of bass.
12.
Krankmusik - Dzyan
Straight up 4/4 new beat techno with no excuses, dark and solid
13.
System Disorder - Wake Up
Reminds me of some excellent projects from 1990's like Fluke or Meat Beat Manifesto but in far darker coat of synths and nihilistic paint.
14.
Filmmaker - Unearthed
An interesting take on some syncopated beats in a pretty cinematic environment. A great breather from previous tracks' darkness into more groovy and lightweight form.
15.
Privacy - Violet
A very malleable sound art with a sense of mystery. For a cinephile like myself, a sure shot to be used in a soundtrack.

Excellent and pretty diverse compilation that should be continued. Let’s see how things will unfold but I will certainly be looking forward to their new releases.
