Satan Kingdom Babylon (Original Soundtrack) by Wojciech Kucharczyk
Wojciech Kucharczyk, a man, institution, true Titan of any rhythm infused electronic outlets, maestro of graphic design and a trickster of a strategist and oblique, subliminal tactics. It probably doesn't really describe everything what he does. But let's not worry about it. For the last 30+ years he has been involved in so many different projects (un)related to his label Mik.Musik.!.
He is coming back with a new set of tracks and a soundtrack of an album that has been arranged and created for the movie: Satan Kingdom Babylon.
A subversive and transgressive narrative of the movie is illustrated by a soundtrack that has many different elements to it.
Wojtek has been working on it for quite some time and you can clearly feel how much effort has been put here. The solid post-techno, experimental electronic fused with passages of different themes makes you think of a meta-music - a type of contents that can be both enriching and adding up extra context to the movie itself.
I don't know how much of the music created has been filtered through the simulacra of AI but you can definitely feel that it is one of the themes - it adds up to a certain degree of chaos and different elements of understanding the whole context on a sophistic and intellectual level.
Through the titles - just by reading them and adapting your understanding on multi-levels that relate to religious dogmas, how they have been used and what kind of ontological situation are we at with the values and principles that were deified let's say - one hundred years ago and how are they working now.
On the musical level - it's an interesting blend of different musical styles under the label of electronic.
There is a lot of Trixter spirit in those tunes - they are not necessarily plunderphonic but the play is engaged. If you are looking for some comparisons - it is difficult to find them in an easy way.
To me it's very close to what James Ferraro has been making in the last few years.
But actually I would use Wojtek as his own reference - in a positive way since he has made so much towards creating his own quality.
And this album proves it.
