Źwierściadło | Slavic Mirror
Slavic Mirror bandcamp
Remek Hanaj is always quite busy and apart from his own project and Księżyc he set up a record label that releases in-situ recordings of musicians from native Poland and beyond.
Together with Requiem records he released a beauty of listener's digest Źwierściadło | Slavic Mirror - compulsory listening experience and re-discovering Polish(and Ukrainian) voices from beyond the line of cheap muzak.
The compilation is beautifully designed into a ecopack cd with 16 tracks that show the wide range of both interesting vocal experimentation e.g. Genowefa Lenarcik and Raphael Rogiński's Żywizna ( here an astounding klezmer blues guitar work from Raphael in his own respect) or Wędrowiec. There is esotheric baroque minimalism from Svitlana Nianio.
Maniucha Bikont and Assaf Talmudi transport us into a completely new and austere region where the sound design of post techno experimentalism layered with eastern harmonies and great vocals.
Yuri Pastushenko and Stan Michalak in a vocal ambience of almost chamber like feel to it.
Ola Bilińska bringing the magic of instrumental and vocal maestry turning into drone steppe voyage to nowhere.
Śliczne Goździki starts off like an in-situ recorded village song but quickly turns into a free jazz cacophony. Next comes Etnofonie Kurpiowskie which is a mellow, almost classical track taking you into the landscape of Kurpie region and beautiful instrumental harmony, that precedes Lautari - a motoric song of positive soundscape and melody.
After that melodic and tonal interlude comes Anna Maria Huszcza in a composition that is a mix of drilling overtones and illustrative pensive soundtrack with darker lining. Quite an ingenious arrangement if you ask me.
Niewte is a hopscotch of village musicology with a childlike play of sound design and post industrial experimental techno beats that blend well nicely.
After that we have Księżyc - a genre in its own respect.Mglista brings back the magic of this legendary band that connects all the uncanny dots. A melancholical trip to the past that is with us.
Odpoczno traverses the polka into a heavenly orchestration that is both psychoactive and rhythmical enough to make us wanna dance.
After that Remek Hanaj comes with his Nagrania Terenowe Snów and vocal ritual that heart will never skip a beat.
And the last but not least Loopus Duo with manic story telling.
How diverse it is and colourful.
