Xenotopia by Simon Öggl

Erm...wowsers.... I haven't been pretty speechless in a long while. I wasn't expecting that to say the least.
Experimental textures leading to a full-throttle modern composition which is both tonal and harmonic. Passages of different instruments in evocative blows between post-techno beats and cinematic themes that are far from being obvious. Add the spice of modular harshness and choral voices orchestrations.
Not only Simon has done a lot of homeworks but he surely knows how to handle and combine different genres and approaches. He has also quite a confident hand in orchestrating parts of different musicians and blend them with a bit glitchy, fresh sounding aspects of his tracks. On the top of that his tracks are involving and have a set of overlapping narratives that is just a joy to listen.
