COMBINATION WITHOUT REPETITION by Joke Lanz and Thomas Rehnert

 

Combining acoustic instruments and analogue synths plus turntables is not necessarily that often in today's musical landscape. Turntablism once thriving is not much of a thing in today's landscape of musical experimentation. 

Yet Joke Lanz and Thomas Rehnert created quite an album that touches many bases.

Limited to two tracks and published and edited for a vinyl release catches the hands on energy of live improvisation where everything has a cumulative power of physicality and intent of disorganised chaos used as a modal to create landscape of curiosity and wonder.

Aggressive interaction with the turntables hits the iceberg of the modular synths that give the whole album a full spectrum of sounds. Additionally the presence of improvised percussion emergence adds a bit of a pinpoints here and there in the whole dadaistic and humoresque improvisations. 

It's definitely a great document of a improvised happening showing the masterful array of the tools and techniques both artists have in their arsenal.
