If It Works, It’s Obsolete by Bong Watt

Bong Watt is a project that includes Elka Bong which is Al Margolis (aka If, Bwana) and Walter Wright with Watt on bass guitar.

As with all the Public Eyesore releases, when you start listening, you immediately have a sense of refinement and something positively outlandish. Whatever idiom or modal or genre you are dealing with - it's a true outsiders' music.

It's no different in case of Bong Watt.

On one hand - this album, beautifully released on a cassette is something of a gem in terms of erratic, absurdist type of improvisation. Something that is completely and utterly in discord with academic musings and it has taken its own drive and the inspiration to a new level.

Those six tracks - each over 5 minutes long is a collection of sonic stories - surrealistic in form and possessing large quantities of absurd and uncanny wit and sense of humour that is both refreshing and uplifting.

Dreamy atmosphere is somewhat empowered by light-weight, slowed down paced of the musical narrative and helps you to get into this microcosm of electroacoustic light and wonder.
