Grounds by Abby Lee Tee / Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy
A new release from Molten Fluid on a cassette with slowly-degrading thermal print is a collaboration between two artists Abby Lee Tee and Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy. Meeting of two musical worlds set in a time frame of nine short tracks and interesting concepts closed in a small drop of sonicsphere.
Add a pinch of field recordings but the type you don't necessarily look for if you happen to be the hi-fi field recordist. Matched with a lo-fi glitchy turntable sounds and a bit of electronic ambient textures. And an added value of mechanical sounds and rotating machines add up to the atmosphere of something that would remind me of musique concrete and Fluxus art if it wasn't for a special filter that those recordings have - something austere and un-obvious that permeates the whole album. It is especially important when you think how much little details add up to beautiful strangeness of this Chinese box of gentile surprises.
One of the best labels presenting tight and uncorrupted vision of certain style.
all sounds based on turntables – samples, mechanical sounds, rotating objects and warped field recordings.
