La miel de los cráteres by Bardo Todol y sus Aves sin Nido
Molt Fluid is a small, independent label releasing cassettes, based in Edinburgh, Scotland and run by Michal Fundowicz.
Cover inserts of the cassettes are thermally printed and they possess this demure aesthetics that definitely give the musical outputs a second layer of meaning.
A new release by Bardo Todol y sus Aves sin Nido is definitely spot on when it comes to creating a certain sort of feel as well as presenting a very specific label or an idiom in music that in my humble opinion has been overlooked.
Combine a low fi field recordings, instruments preparations and improvisations, unclear and non-linear narrative of the piece, the feel of short proximity and intimacy of the sound as well as, even more importantly a hauntological quality of those recordings - and there it is.
With shifts and turns of the different array of tools and means to create the atmosphere and the mood, what is more important is that it never loses its touch with what qualifies as an interesting and still quite unconventional and uneasy listening that eludes the classfication and standard labeling. Such a little curious gem.
"La Miel de los cráteres" means "The lunar crater's honey" in Spanish.
Recorded with tape recorders, lunetta synth, clarinet, bells and a lot of wet sounds in Salsipuedes, Argentina in 2024 / keeping fresh the "tape jazz" on and on and on...
