DIRTY PICTURES Segregation DL Mille Plateaux MP25
Lёps Dubasov has been busy with making music since 1990's. His new album as Dirty Pictures is coming out now released by Millie Plateaux.
As someone nicely put - ecology is the science of learning the consequences. In his work Lёps finds that truth in organising his musical architecure.
Starting from the first track "Drought" you can easily spot how he manages tension, slowness and the textures of his heavy ambient music. There is a bit of that in starting off melancholically and atmopsherically "Peeling off" that has a very interesting narrative to it, theatrical and full of subtle resonance. "Route" is a heavy drone coming to similar point. And it goes on through the whole album. There's a beautiful aspect of it which is basically adapting his means to the structure of the track. There's a different aspect which is a dense minimalism - the whole spectrum is filled in but if you analyze it - you see very easily that is rather minimalistic in approach.
A very good introduction to how things should be arranged and produced when it comes to cross over of different experimental genres.
