IAIN CHAMBERS Concrete Paris DL Self-released
A term often used in popular culture "brutalist" is quite unpopular within the architecture designers' circle. Iain Chambers was making the field recordings around the buildings from 1960's and 1970's in Paris often called "les banlieues rouges" The effect is quite interesting work withing specificity of acoustics and sonical dynamics around those places.
The author, conscious of his decision, to record there, was also to use the Brutalist Map of Paris, published by Blue Crow Media in 2017. It's a form of psychogeography which he recorded with Dinah Bird, a walk through the conditions that were laid out for people to have affordable housing - a social context that gives a special angle to intimacy of urban field recordings.
