effe effe is a solo project of Federica Furlani. She is a prolific artist - as a viola player and also as a conceptual artist. Coming from a classically trained background, she later studied Electronic musicin Milan Conservatory and Berlin UDK. She has performed on stage as a viola player with Einsturzende Neubauten and Blonde Redhead, among many others.
She works as sound designer/composer and live music performer for theatre and
dance (La Biennale di Venezia, Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Teatro Stabile di Torino).
Her research is also focused on soundscapes studies, sound education, and the
social and artistic potential of new technologies.
Her newest album "Tuning Scapes" took me by surprise as the voiceover in her first track introduced the whole concept as if it was taking back to the quite typical presentation of the artistic process you would find in American concept art. But later it developed into something of a both melodically and rhytmically interesting easy/non-easy listening where both compromise and blend beautifully. And the whole album is soaked and filled with that spirit. Electroacoustics with nice touch of melody, filigree electronical experiments have right timing and excellent texture. It's a trademark of her work. Looking forward to her new stuff.
