Karadi by Ybalferran

Ybalferran comes back with his fourth studio album and it is definitely a sound galore.

Based in Austria and working remotely as many sound artists and musicians do these days, he is definitely influenced by the both abstract electronica, post-techno and post-industrial ambient genres. But beyond this picture of some sort of consensual agreement between the listener who knows quite a lot about different movements and currents in electronic music, there is a vast territory of the musician's knowledge.

Done in an intuitive and highly professional way, compositions here evade the labelling, yet there is a great deal of linear and non-linear narrative that goes beyond just a cliche of experimentation. A deep sense of melancholy and nostalgia hidden beyond those synth leads are not a sheer sound manipulation, they bear both a sensitive mind and an operatic almost capability of expressing a rainbow of emotions and feelings.

Created with lots of different means and tools, I almost felt like I am in the centre of field recorded session but done in a way that nothing is just an abruptly unedited happenstance but more of something larger than just individual sounds who are both stylish, elaborate and highly sophisticated, It does really take a huge skill to do it. Not only knowledge of the tools but certain way of orchestration.

Although marked with glitch and invasive squelch of a sound, Karadi is a good soundtrack to relax and reflect - there is a huge aspect of fragility and sensitivity that you don't come across that often in this area of music.

I wish Błażej finds the way to use his talents in any given area, his new album is a testimony to a sensitive and attentive mind and knowledge of both the tools and great musical eloquence. Aces!
