MEKTOUB. 1001 nocy Paula Bowlesa. by Rafał Kołacki

Rafał Kołacki whom I know from Hati and other projects has a beautiful, inspirational body of work which he himself has based on many inspirations he has found through his own travel experiences as well as literature, art, and obviously music.
His newest album is inspired by a magical Tangier and the persona of Paul Bowles, an icon of individualism, poet, author of books, traveller, music collector, someone who is so difficult to establish just one, singular opinion about and put under any label whatsoever. A Tangier dandy of eloquence and magic has inspired Kołacki to create a scenario based on field recordings, as well as spoken word narrative woven together with electronic drone compositions. Put together as an over 40mins track has no sound that is unnecessary, puts you in a contemplative and reflective mood this instant.
A meditation and analysis on a city that is seen through eyes of his resident, someone who devoted his life and spirit to it, now revisited by a musician, a field recordist and artist that has reworked his inspirations into one concise unit.
