Maat - The Next
1990's seems like a wonderful time for tape music and underground post-industrial experiments in different austere aspects where you have oddly composed structures set in a context so much different than you might think works. I was bringing my memories back thanks to Monochrome Vision's late Dmytrij who passed away last year but seems 1990's is a gold mine with lots of other works waiting to be dug out.
Doerte Marth a.k.a Maat or now Xyramaat from Hamburg, Germany has been active since late 80's/early 90's in new wave and experimental bands such as Devantgard - an unknown project - switching later to more post-industrial, in vibe, musical projects.
You can feel the influence of Foxy Digitalis, Coil and even The Residents in this material since electronic drums and synths are the base of her sound. Dark but feeling oddly academical and semantically very conceptual and naive in a way. Iluustrative and quirky but also very meditative in its own way.
