2Rooms (ALRN138) by 2Rooms

2Rooms is a project by Martin Bisi, Genevieve Kammel Morris (Lauds) and Robert L. Pepper (Pas Musique).
Released by a home label of Pas Musique and other projects that involve Robert L. Pepper, this session and a cd that it was released on is pretty difficult to classify but I would endeavour a modern magickal psychodelia.
Comprised of two over thirty minute sessions - we have a two different sets which are set on the foundations of both ambient textures and subtle rhythmical pulsations.
On the top of that the vocal calls reverberate in the background to add some primeval and tribality feel to it.
They are improvised sessions but both of them have the musical maturity that reminds me of  La Monte Young's ensemble the Theatre of Eternal Music.
That droning and repetitive quality. Less theatricality and more electronics in terms of synth and prepared guitar as well as subtle drum beats.
It could be well used as a soundtrack for a staged ritual or a Kenneth Anger style movie.
The subliminal and psychodelic quality of it says all about how much versatility you can conjure.

Martin Bisi has been a central figure in the musical history of New York City for the past four decades. Founding Brooklyn's BC Studio in 1981, he has helped develop post-Punk, No Wave and experimental culture through recordings of Brian Eno (On Land), Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock's "Rockit", Afrika Bambaataa, Material/Bill Laswell, JG Thirlwell, Unsane, The Dresden Dolls, White Hills, Cop Shoot Cop and countless others.

Genevieve Kammel Morris (Genevieve Fernworthy) is a theologian and multi-instrumentalist who performs under the moniker Lauds. Her solo artistic output is expansive and her collaborative work has resulted in numerous recordings and projects. She founded Hidden House Press in 2009, the Kings County MicroKORG Choir in 2017, launched Grand:ZERO in 2020, and in 2016 created The Lunary– an improvisational, sound-guided meditation series held on/around the full and new moon phases. She provides sonic accompaniment to her husband, billy cancel, in the psychogeographically-focused, noise-poetry duo Tidal Channel.

Robert L. Pepper is a Brooklyn born artist/musician, based in New York City. His works include oil, and acrylic paintings, films, and electronic, experimental music recordings. His work is abstract in
nature while using various symbols and occult references. His portraits are a breakdown of the subject’s personality into abstract designs and esoteric symbols. His musical projects include Pas Musique, Zoku Metsu, The Jazzfakers, Eyryx, and Limax Maximus. Robert has performed and displayed art in over 18 countries and has collaborated with artists like Faust, Rapoon, ZEV, Philippe Petit, HATI, Chester Hawkins, JOHN 3:16, and Jim Tuite.
