Mowa Tworzenia by RAFAŁ KOŁACKI
Rafał Kołacki whom you probably know already from Hati, Innercity Ensemble, as well as Molok Mun and Mammoth Ulthana is coming back with a new album released on vinyl by invaluable Zoharum.
Filtered through his experience with post-industrial rhythmajick, field recording as well as other compositional and improvisational styles he embellishes the formula of compositions based on environmental field recorded sources looped and sampled to create an intriguing ambience.
A plunge into the core of the sound, on the outside doesn't look like much but there are moments of intricate beauty as in third track called ''Ark'' when suddenly compressed and looped files of field recorded samples turn into somewhat organic dark ambient... It is followed by Dziewięć Kocich Żywiołów which has the trace of similar characteristics - this time with some curious industrial pulse.
Morreda is on the other pole of this multiverse - it reminds me of what Dave Knott and Jeph Jerman do with prepared sounds of the objects but Rafał goes a bit further with creating more rhythmical basis of the track.
Szept Kamiennego Wiatru is another take on ambient based on field recordings. Glitchy and with bits that slowly evolve out of porous sonic tissue.
It's an interesting journey for a listener and also for someone who creates music themselves. A good perspective on both field recording and how can you utilise it in an ambience of music that has its own plan within a musician's plan.
