Spektralmaskin by Peder Simonsen & Jo David Meyer Lysne

Sofa music from Oslo, Norway never disappoints when you feel like a bit of modern composition with different aspects of live electronics, free jazz and experimental music.
Spektralmaskin is a great example of that.
We have two titans of modern composition and improvised music - Simonsen and Lysne who actually decided to work on harmonics in this eponymous piece.
Along with using small motors and e-bows as well as variety of different kinds of strings, they set up different tunings. They play around with re-purposed hard drives and created their own instruments.
The effect is very positively surprising with rich overtones, droning and nuanced way towards reaching the goal of certain effects they have set up to do.
With a bit of help of other musicians they have managed to create a space that is full of resonance and light. It is not overburdened with too much of a academical approach and maintain a healthy balance between all aspects of their work.
