musiques tourbes by diane barbé
Diane Barbé is one of those unique artists whose holistic approach and crossing the boundaries of art, activism as well as interdisciplinary research puts her on many different levels and set ups.
Her newest album is an invitation to attentive listening and encouragement to make associations between the sound, the importance of biomes in terms of biology and Anthropocene period and many other references.
Five tracks beautifully released on the vinyl just helps to open yourself up to the possibility of sound but not only in terms of mere cold audio art but in terms of something deeper, more elusive. The melancholy and some sort of perceptive commotion you can experience while listening is both unique and helps to see things from a different perspective. Sound sources which we omit in a daily life a the main protagonists. Important processes behind them - even more so. Diane elevated them to completely new level of importance to make the listener understand how the biomes work first hand.
It is both educative and enables you to explore this sonic magnitude on your own.
