Pithecanthropus Carpathicus by Dan Michiu

 

Newest cassette from Molt Fluid based in Edinburgh presents almost 30 minutes of interesting stuff from Romanian composer Dan Michiu. A low-key, lo-fi two tracks of analogue, abrasive collage based on tapes and some difficult to identify electronics that Dan puts into a hauntological one unit of two parts, only to be divided on the both sides of the cassette.

There is definitely some sort of poetic dissonance in those sounds, as if something that was barely seen in the past suddenly started crawling back to its original source. An experimental sound collage which could be either easily used as a soundtrack or something of a live electronics radio show.

Set in a sensible time frame - it helps to focus on the minimalistic droning and observe its sonic development.

It is impossible to qualify, definitely as an advantage - where a few means lead to some interesting results.
