THE LONESOME ORGANIST- Them/Apples by No Sides Records
Another gem from No Sides Records - The Lonesome Organist.
Starts off with the track ''Cassade 2'' which can easily put on an album by late 60's Herbie Hancock with dub echoes and some nice passages of the organ. And then things go towards beautiful singer songwriter archetype that I could easily set in Chicago scene which of Jeremy Jacobsen is part. He equalizes gracefully his vocals with instrumental parts which are far from any sort of cliches - it just slides seamlessly from one track to the next. There is post rock and math rock and improvised music sensitivity here. There is Burt Bacharach, there is most likely Bill Fay.
But first and foremost there is passion set in a non - nonsense mood - Jeremy has such a talent to organize and compose his music into little stories which are accessible through its broad embrace of tonal and harmonic qualities but never straying away too much from the naturally driven experimentation.
And look how many instruments he covers
Just beautiful
