DAVID WALLRAF - The Commune Of Nightmares MC

 

An interesting piece by David Wallraf who is based in Hamburg and works with all sort of media such as tabletop synths, tape loops. His current album is based on the tape loops which he recorded - a little while ago in late 90's and early '00s.

A meditative and reflective mood of this tape is a bit empowered by a slight touch of surrealism and macabre that you can definitely feel through the hinges of the whole composition. It does have even this almost Victorian aspect to it - thanks to the dreamy graphic design.

A dream sequence of sorts and an interesting political and philosophical commentary to what reality is, has a nice template of processed loops. A hauntological feeling of the whole musical design is only emphasized through use of delays and dramatic turns and twists of David's work.

If you are looking for something less obvious, something that doesn't conform to anything gothic but represents everything that has the best surreal quality - this material is for you.
